The voting will take place from TUESDAY DEC 22 @ 7 PM GMT – WEDNESDAY DEC 23 @ 6 PM.
All six final selections have meanwhile been uploaded, and thanks to Sir Douglas the Indian selection The Seventh Horse of the Sun can now also be watched on youtube.
In regards to the version of Donkey in a Brahmin Village I recommend to download the video and reproduce it with Windows Media Player to get better image quality.
An links overview can also be found on this page. Here are the updated online streaming links:
Little Toys (Sun Yu, 1933) v Days and Nights in the Forest (Satyajit Ray, 1970)
The Actress (Stanley Kwan, 1992) v The Seventh Horse of the Sun (Shyam Benegal, 1993)
Tie Xi Qu: West of the Tracks- Part 1: Rust (Wang Bing, 2003) v Donkey in a Brahmin Village (John Abraham, 1978)
Thank you Apursansar. I finally finished watching ‘The Seventh Horse of the Sun’ from this link you posted. The link posted on Paul’s profile does not work for this film. Well I should say, it did not work for me in my region.
good work, yes thanks to Sir Douglas that fine knight; that will make it easier for Seventh Horse of the Sun- and should be enough time left for viewings
Sir Douglas saved the day!!! what a perfect Benegal film that was, another proof of the 90’s grandeur.
i have a minor problem with the John Abraham film though,it won’t play in my Windows,so is there any other route to watch it on time?
so far however,5 out of 6 works of art, bravo Myra and Marc!
In case that you can´t reproduce it with Windows Media Player, just open the page which is linked to and wait until the video loads. You can then watch it online and also change to larger size.
Thanks for the links Apursansar.
I just watched Stanley Kwan’s The Actress and it was great to see Maggie Cheung in a substantial role. I saw Benegal’s The seventh horse of the sun a long time back on jaman. Suraj ka satwaan ghoda is without any doubt the best film by Shyam Benegal ever, and also the one that many people haven’t seen. Another Benegal film that I think more people watch is Samar. Benegal has used the same techniques of narration that Stanely Kwan did in The Actress.
I think the competition will be tough between The Actress and The seventh horse of sun. I should get back to watching the rest of the films.
You´re right, Sushi. I personally rank that one alongside “Bhumika: The Role” as Benegal´s masterpiece. It´s certainly going to be an interesting match-up against Kwan´s “The Actress”.
with the final starting shortly, bumping up- still time to watch
