worst movie of 2009

Yes, Rocky, Star Trek IS a good movie. It is a GREAT movie compared to Transformers 2.

And A Serious Man, I have to say, is one of the best, if not THE best, films of the year.

Please don’t get me wrong. I’ve been with the Coen brothers from the beginning and enjoyed many of their pictures (Raising Arizona, Miller’s Crossing, and The Big Lebowski being the standouts). However, the contempt they’ve shown many of their characters over the years has recently bleed over into the viewing audience. This “new found” mean-spiritness so prominent in their last two films is neither insightful nor entertaining.

This has been kind of an awful year for film. There were just far too many mediocre films, but the three that were just awful were:

Adventureland (the spell check doesn’t approve of it either)
The Final Destination
Rene (Although, with a documentary, you never know how the end is gonna end up)

9 is the worst that I have seen, followed by (500) Days of Summer, but I try not to torture myself often.

“The Proposal” and “Knowing”.

“Precious” isn’t a terrible film, just a film with one good performance and two good scenes put together by Lee “The Overdirector” Daniels.

“A Serious Man” is the best film I’ve seen in the past two years.

I have to confess because I am a fan of the graphic novel, I enjoyed watchmen.
As for Transformers 2, why would you even go see that?
I really hated Il Divo…

Il Divo?one of the best films of 2008 certainly doesn’t belong to a “list of trashes” like this one,and some examples above have secured it.

i’ll also add Angels and Demons to that list and curiously enough, the majority of the picks is U.S. films…no,correction…Hollywood films!
oh i love mainstream production,so valuable…

Transformers 2. Simply for the fact that its budget could have been divided by 3 and used to make much better films. The runner up is New Moon just because you could laugh at Twilight. New Moon really had nothing going for it. At least thats my opinion.

Watchmen was also pretty bad. Snyder did nothing as a director.

2012?

I totally forgot that Knowing was released in 2009.

Yes, it’s possibly the worst film of the year, very specifically for its mainstreaming the end-of-times horseshit of Tim LaHaye’s Left Behind multi-media industry.

The Informers:
It was so painfully vapid. Awful.

“I Come with the Rain.”

Starring Josh Hartnett, Byung-hun Lee and Kimura Takuya.

I haven’t seen it but it looked like the worst film of 2009. I know it was directed by Ang Hung Tran and all; I still threw up in my mouth when I saw the trailer.

“Watchmen” was a mess of a movie.

>>New Moon is not the worst movie of the year; it is substantially better than Transformers 2. At least it tired.<<
Freudian slip?

movies i knew would be bad but still saw anyway (in order from worst to to less worse):

watchmen
terminator
harry potter
bruno

biggest disappointments, most overrated, as well as movies that annoyed me the most:

500 days of summer
where the wild things are

Tag Simler

He’s Just Not That Into You was pretty gutwrenching, save for Ginnifer Goodwin’s character.

Transformers 2 without doubt is the worst film I saw in 2009. (I hated the first one and only saw the second as favour to a friend). Much of what is being made now disappoints me so, more and more, (very reluctantly) I am staying away from the big screen – it’s all so thoroughly depressing – so I probably haven’t seen enough cinema to judge really, but this metal encased turd is certainly the most excruciating experience I’ve had at the cinema this year. It kind of sums up what is rotten in the cinema now – big, loud, very VERY expensive, utterly devoid of any pretense at being cinematic and moronic beyond belief.
I find myself appreciating, more than ever, overly subtle flics as if in refuge from the hammers and chisels of Bay & Emmerich and their followers. A Serious Man, Moon and Bright Star being my personal favourites of 2009

I usually dont try to pay for movies I expect to dislike so I can’t really pick a worst movie of 2009…
but… I thought District 9 was a little disappointing…. I enjoyed it… but I didn’t love it like I expected to

2012, New Moon, and Transformers 2. $30 I’ll never get back.

2012 was okay i thought it was surprsingly character driven

Fatman

Surely the worst film of the year ought to go to something which at least initially looked good, yet proved to be poor. I’m slightly baffled by those stating ‘New Moon’ and ‘Twilight’. Did you go to the cinema expecting it to be good?

Dennis Brian

in that case humpday

Fatman

that was quite poor, yes

I shouldn’t have expected much but I loved baghead and this was another mumblecore movie

I’m surprised Halloween 2 hasn’t been mentioned. Maybe it’s a given, but that was definitely the worst movie I’ve seen this year. I haven’t seen too many new movies though.
