Oh, by the way, I have tried looking online on such websites as Amazon and Best Buy and I just get confused on what kind of camera I should be buying. I called Best Buy today and the guy said to come in and say what kind of computer that I have, that it takes a firewire port and I could also take a picture of it. Oh, and I also forgot to mention that I plan on buying the MacBook Pro off of Amazon based on the fact that a new Mac is just too much money, I got a fifty dollar gift certificate from my brother and his family from Amazon and money from my taxes, savings account and money I will be saving from my job. I have heard refurbished is a good way to go, but that can be expensive too although I guess you could say that I’m not totally against it. Sometimes, I guess you can get a relatively good price for a Mac on there and they offer refurbished ones off of Amazon. I plan on buying the second to newest used MacBook Pro. I might, down the line at some point, buy Final Cut Studio as well also used, probably off of Amazon. I have heard that the newest version of Final Cut Pro and the newest Macs don’t work too well together. Thanks for your advice in advance.
You can experiment with a hundred dollar camera with the G3. Most digital cameras now have a firewire connection, so I don’t see that being an issue. I was working with a G5 and it would be slow sometimes so I would not recommend investing too much on a G3. Stick with your original plan. Also do as much research as possible before you take that step because that will be your rig, your equipment, your right hand. Be patient and good luck.

The reason I ask is because in the future I plan on buying a used MacBook Pro and I would probably be buying a much more advanced camera that would work off of that computer. I received this imac g3 from my cousin and he put imovie on here, but the camera needed has to have a firewire connection. I think most newer cameras usually connect to computers with USB ports. Would I just be wasting money on buying a camera for this one? I don’t know if some cameras, especially newer models would work well on this computer because the newer ones would have more pixels on them and this one may not be able to handle that or it may take up a lot of space on my hard drive if the camera I bought had a lot of pixels on it. Maybe I should buy a used camera, but who knows if it would break down. What are your guy’s take on this? In a way, I feel like buying one anyways just to experiment with, but I just think that would put off saving up to buy my new computer and might not be the best way to spend my money. It’s just that I have this version of imovie and I have never used it.
