With the success so far of the Caucasian films in the world cup, i was reminded of Iosseliani and an excellent short documentary Tudzhi/ Cast Iron (1964), which effectively captures the tough working lives and raw dramatic power of clanging and fiery molten metal in a Georgian ironworks- he has a feel for editing and image and there’s an upbeat spirit as often with his feature films

I share my birthday with Sally Potter( 19th September) and various actors.
I have seen “Yes” and though it was pretty decent.I’m impatient about her new film “Rage”, which was said to have created a new cinematic genre: Naked Cinema.
Ah yes, she’s quite a bold film-maker, on the fringes really, Orlando probably her most mainstream film, and excellent it is too.
I need to see more of her work.What would you recommend?
