1. Godfather II
2. Glengarry Glen Ross
3. Scent of a Woman
Revolution…. no,no, what am I saying?
1. Heat – just a dazzling film, that soaks you into it. It’s not Pacino’s best performance, but the experience of it is breathtaking.
2. Carlito’s Way – Pacino’s best performance of his ‘90s second wind. The thinking man’s Scarface (which is overegged and empty).
3. Dog Day Afternoon – rewatched this recently. Sidney Lumet is one of America’s finest, most understated directors. Still going too.
1. Dogday Afternoon
2. The Devil’s Advocate
3. a tie between: Scarface, “Perfume de Mujer”
1-The Devil’s Advocate
2-Godfather
3-The Scent of a Woman
And, also as a Professional working in the Film Industry, I loved Al Pacino as a honest and sympathetic filmmaker who is trying to make it big in Hollywood in the movie “Simone.” Though, more importantly, I loved how the movie made fun of all the political and superficial bureaucracies of Hollywood. Seeing a big Hollywood Film star like Al Pacino acting in a movie that was ridiculing the Hollywood system was Priceless!
Is this favourite Al Pacino film or favourite Al Pacino performance?
Top 3 favourite Al Pacino Films….

3. Dog Day Afternoon
Top 3 favourite Al Pacino performaces in a film..
1. Dog Day Afternoon
2. Scarface
3. Devils Advocate
Carlito Brigante (he’s less hooooahy than usual) and Pachanga rules. Although his hairdo in Serpico is in a class by itself.
Yeah, “Simone” was a good fun, Halim.
“Cruising” by William Friedkin was a special film too. A cop investigating a gay crime becomes changing.
I make a big distinction between the young Pacino of Serpico and Cruising, and the modern Pacino of Glegarry Glen Ross and Devil’s Advocate, He seems to chew the scenery a lot more now, which I always enjoy, but I prefer his earlier work, I mean, come on, the Godfather is just so great with his performance. My favorite performance of his is Godfather II for that scene where he just explodes with anger at Diane Keaton, which was a perfect example of his skills as an actor.
I second Akira although I prefer Pacino in Godfather Part II because of his repressed inner conflict torn between his dream and reality.
I really love “Scarecrow” by Schatzberg..so underrated! (if not Pacino’s best def. Hackman’s!) i also agree that Cruising and Dog day afternoon are very powerful.
To borrow from Luke’s reply…

This one is hard because his library is so big, but i will go with his turn in rather different roles. I enjoyed The recruit and city hall was also pretty bad , but he was his usual fine self. i know you are asking for his best. But come on michael corleone, vincent hanna, carlito brigante, tony montana, and i almost forgot frank slade(the man that woman him his oscar). This man’s resume is just to damn impressive to go with one or five. I didnt even mention serpico and with that i’m off to kill the cockaroaches!

I have not seen …and justice for all
Bobby Deerfield
no fans of Insomnia
I really enjoyed the movie and thought Pacino put out an amazing performance
Cruising’s the only film where you can see the man butt-nekkid and hogtied to a bed… so that’s interesting in itself and I wonder what he thinks of it today.
The Godfather would really be the best answer here I think.

Yes, Pacino. The hottest actor of all times.
Which films with him are your favorites?
My top 3 are:
1. Dog Day Afternoon
2. Bobby Deerfield (Pacino is a racing driver. He sings an opera song for his dying lover. He has a great voice!)
