This, along with The Magician makes two blind buys in one week. I’m living dangerously.
La Haine. I’d never seen it before so as a fan of Vincent Cassel I enjoyed watching him in his breakthrough role. He was very good.
Just bought Band of Outsiders for $29.99. It was a blind buy. Other choice was Ivan’s Childhood, which would have been for the same price and also a blind buy.
Paths of Glory
Close-Up (haven’t seen this yet)
Anatomy of a Murder
Brand Upon the Brain!
Double Life of Veronique
Before the Rain
Brazil (3 disc)
Sym………
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas
Just got the re-release of Branded To Kill and Tokyo Drifter. It’s like christmas in Spring.
Letter Never Sent
Harakiri (never seen it) – it was $20 on amazon (on blu-ray) last week.
Nice! It’s a great film and the blu ray looks awesome!
Glad to hear it. I’ve only heard good things about the film, and I figured it was time to expand my samurai-film experience/knowledge past Kurosawa.
A Night to Remember on blu-ray.
@Takaawesome,I recently purcheched Three Outlaw Samurais on blu a few weeks back and Thoughly enjoyed it.not flawless but still badass.the only bs is no extras.nice transfer tho.
The Leopard is the last film i bought.
also got Branded To Kill awhile back
Letter Never Sent was a gift from a friend in Houston, so that doesn’t quite count… but I did buy Carlos in February for over 50% off on Ebay. Damn good historical epic, watching episode 2 right now with my dad. I plan to shoot all of my bigger-budget stuff on 35mm like this one, or even better, 65/70mm.
Just bought Yi Yi and Paris, Texas
A Hollis Frampton Odyssey
@Fuzzbucket – I’ve had my eye on the Hollis Frampton set (I’m unfamiliar with his work) – let me know how it is, will ya?
I won these bidding on Ebay- ended at 6am Saturday:
Naked Prey
Autumn Afternoon
Pigs and Battleship
Larisa Sheptiko set
Seduced and Abandoned
I guess I got lucky other bidders overslept this morning
@Taka
See his work first. You can find a lot of it on youtube. I hate it all. So I’d say it’s not a good blind buy.
double life of veronique (bluray)
three colours trilogy (bluray)
due to arrive next week, along with a few other (non-criterion) products.
ugh. i haven’t been able to properly afford a criterion in over half a year now. i used to get at least one or 2 every month. what has happened to my life… maybe if i hold off till the next sale.
Just bought The Moment of Truth by Francesco Rosi. Has anyone seen it before and if so, what did you think?
@David, I didn’t like it, but each to there own, you may enjoy it.
Picked up THIN RED LINE on BluRay today — as bad as it gets (this film is where the nonsensical narrated whispered blatherings really get to be a major problem — the horror of TREE OF LIFE begins squarely here) but there’s no denying the radiant beauty of the cinematography or the immense power of the film’s best moments.
BD – Belle de Jour (couple of weeks ago)
DVD – Le Trou (couple of months ago)
Eclipse – Nikkatsu Noir (yesterday)
Dillinger is Dead.
And it’s one of their best Dvd’s that I’ve come across.
Cool purchase A Smith,I have that set myself. let me kno what you think of it
