visually engrossing, not wanting in atmosphere, but ultimately bogged down by vague histrionics lacking anything resembling real motive. the talk on the ride home after consisted mostly of pointing out inconsistencies and contrivances, but we all agreed that it was fun to look at. so a win for Chan-Wook and Chung-Hoon, and a fail for Wentworth Miller.

oh no! i saw it on tuesday and honestly i'm still processing it, but i can tell you that it's visually stunning and definitely thought-provoking. but if you're up in portland i think it opens there this friday, actually. even if it doesn't, though, i think it'll be worth the wait, however long it is!
