He tried to, but the source material is too good to be ruined so easily and I found the acting to be pretty fine, therefore my 3/5.
yeah, im not giving out official wins until ive seen another year and animal kingdom.
Also re: Blue Valentine, the film literally has no second act, therefore we (the audience) have a lot to assume as to what exactly the decay of the relationship was due to or what it was like. Quite frankly, I would have liked to have seen parts of it and the film fails for me in that regard. But the acting + direction saves the screenplay and makes the film a great experience.
