I read Nobel Prize winning writers and write letters to congress for Human Rights and Environment and Gay Rights.
I love to read everything I can get my hands on. I have gone to poetry readings with Mike and I have quite a few autographed and inscribed books, to name a few: Mark Doty, Oscar Hijuelos, Dean Young, Adam Zagajewski, and Kenneth Koch. I love to write and just tried to write a book of poems. I love looking-up classic movies, actors and directors and writers on www.wikipedia.org, even if it tells some negative things famous people do. The Truth will set you free.
I send letters on the Action center at www.AmnestyUSA.org and www.GreenpeaceUSA.org and write my own letters for different causes at www.congress.org. I’ve gotten a few itelligent letters of response from Obama during his senator days. What a great mind he is! I hope the world follows along and changes for the better. I visit the website www.Nobelprize.org every now and then and read speeches and lectures for inspirations.
Living with HIV since 2007, but healthy with new, “miracle” medicine and doing fine.
I love taking photos, going to inexpensive community and college theater productions because I support the Illinois Arts Council and the NEA, I love going to lawn seating concert picnics at the Ravinia where I’ve seen Tony Bennet, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Gypsy Kings, and Sheryl Crow. I went to two country concerts at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and saw Kathy Mattea and Patty Loveless. Mike and I both loved those shows. Those women can sing and have something meaningful to say too. We have both Mattea’s and Loveless’ autograph. We also have Martina McBride’s autograph. “Wild Angels” is one of my favorite songs that Martina has sung.
Lastly, I love to go to the public libraries and check out films and c.d.s. and books. Mike and I checked out a passes at the libraries that let you and three guests get into some of the museums for free: We’ve seen the Art Institute and are going back, the Field Musuem, The Freedom Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry and soon we are going to the Planetarium. I’ve learned the most at the Field Museum where we saw an exhibit on Native Americans and Indigenous people of Latin America. I wish I was a school teacher, then I could encourage kids to do that. What a great city to live in!
