Hey there, I just got back from my double screening of the Swanberg films at the LFF. First was Uncle Kent, and it was an extremely funny, nice film. It never goes too deep, but its surface is pretty pure and spot-on. Swanberg switches nicely between his camera, a USB camera, webcam and such. Silver Bullets on the other hand, completely blew me away. A complete change in tone, quality...nearly everything visually and sound-wise is different to what he has done before. There is also a deeper, darker story at work here. Hes done the 'putting himself' into a film before, but here he has pretty much bled onto the film. Its different, but it still clearly has some of the same Swanberg/Mumblecore-ness motifs you'd expect. I would highly recommend it. Not only do I believe it is his best film by a long way, and one of the very best Mumblecore films around (check out my list! :P), but one of the very best films this year.
