Memories.
Wear something tight!
There's definitely a good film in there somewhere.
Nothing to see here, move along.
Recently saw it again, and I loved it a lot more than I did the first time around. Oh so beautiful!
Saw it again, and there's definitely something there. The editing was fun. But somewhere in the third act, they dropped the ball.
It's very beautiful to look at, but what is it?
No disrespect, but it's a glorified camera test featuring .35 seconds of Tilda Swinton.
I did. It was beautifully written. I don't think any less of it for being a camera test; in fact it's absolutely brilliant as a camera test. I mean, this film with any other camera wouldn't like this -- like memories. My problem is that I cannot take the camera out of the equation, which is why at the end of the day, I feel it's still a camera test.
There's definitely something there, but it's not enough. Radha Michelle is amazing though, and so was Chiwetel Ejiofor.
It's probably Allen's most melodramatic movie, but I did I like it.
I'll take this over Avatar any day.
Hits every note you expect it to and doesn't surprise you one bit, but maybe that's the point. I'll give it points for being sweet and charming all the way through.
One of my favourites of his.
Nowhere near as good as Act Da Fool.
Technically, it was impeccable -- almost flawless in its execution -- and of course Vanessa Redgrave is pure class. But there's just something about it that didn't click. Maybe it was my mood when I saw it, but it just didn't do it for me.
Still has its faults, like, the music cues stil irk me, but it's so much better watching it again two years later. Juno Temple was magnificent, and Sarah Polley is raw emotion personified.
The best part was the credits. And no, this is not some smart-ass way of saying it sucked and I was glad it ended. Yes, it did suck, but also, the typography and graphic design in the credits was pretty fucking awesome.
Amazing. Now I want to see all of Chahine's films.
Left me scarred for sure. I'm still thinking about it.
I watched this a while back; can't remember shit. I guess that says something about the film. To its credit, I don't remember it making me mad either.
I knew I was gonna enjoy it, but good god that was... wow.
I know it goes without saying, but fuck this movie and everything it stands for.
Incredibly fun for what it is.
Preposterous at times, but I'll be damed if it wasn't fun all the way through.
I haven't had this much fun in a summer blockbuster since the first Iron Man back in '08.
It totally comes off as pretentious. Even as a character study, it's just a poor-man's taxi driver. I'm not impressed at all. In a lot of ways, it felt like a Bobcat Goldthwait film without the humor. I like Irreversible a lot, but this was some bullshit.
The editing was really off-putting at first, but it got better. Much better.
"Five Minutes, Mr Welles" is brilliant.
I had qualms with A Time for Freedom because if you're gonna go silent, I believe you gotta go all out. It just felt to me like I messed up one of the audio tracks on the DVD and thus can only hear the soundtrack and foley but no voices.
Of all the Dogma films I've seen, I think this makes the least sense.
By the numbers but still pretty good.
Carey Mulligan steals every scene she's in; absolutely incredible. Shame the rest of the film isn't anywhere near as good.
