About Me

I love Art, Film, Culture and Literature. Most of the film stuff I know revolves around Alfred Hitchcock, but I’m continuing to learn more (I’m constantly looking up film-related things on wikipedia)… I’m always interested in complex, intriguing and aesthetically pleasing films.

A Single Man

I loved this movie. It was aesthetically pleasing overall (which I expected and I love the early 1960's, so I knew I would be hooked in that aspect of the film). The topics in the movie really resonated with me, especially Falconer's realizations at the end of the film and Kenny's lecture about the faults of perception. I've never seen men sexualized in a film before, such a breath of fresh air from sexualized women!

Just saw 39 Steps again, and was reminded of the close plot references that recur in North by Northwest, almost a remake? Even down to the high camera angles and the close ups of shoes. 82 minutes of great movie making

Thanks, please pass on any other stuff that you have read re Hitch. I am still wading through '1001 movies you must see before you die' - very subjective but a good reference to what's out there and what has inspired the current 'auteurs'

Just saw North by Northwest again, loved the high and low level photography (Sergio L must have been watching too) I had forgotten about the final shot of the train going into the tunnel - very rude!

A Clockwork Orange

They use the american ending of the novel for the movie (omitting the final chapter), which just breaks my heart. The last chapter is the entire point of the book, and is the almost exact opposite…  read review

Seeing Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Merryl Streep go at it (fighting-wise) in a scene together was enough to make my head explode. Excellent, excellent cast — though I wish Amy Adams would branch out…  read review

One word to describe this film is “beautiful”. I love the color scheme, the images… everything about this movie is aesthetically pleasing. The story is interesting too, though I wish I had read the…  read review

Oh lord, Psycho. Initially, I didn’t like it as much as, say, Vertigo or North by Northwest. However, I couldn’t stop thinking about this movie for at least 2 weeks after I saw it! Originally planned…  read review
