I would tend to think that watching a film on acid or any other hallucinate would not be enjoyable, weed however can and does make a film better. I’m not sure it’s even fair to say which films it makes better because I would think it makes all films better, however if you made me choose I would have to say humorous films, visually stunning films and sad films (watch a real sad film high, don’t hold back, and you will be balling).
I would imagine straight drama and horror would not be as good high (I tend to get paranoid when high)
I was thinking about getting the Bergman collection, it includes Wild Strawberries & The Seventh Seal, though I have not heard of the other to. That would already cost me $50.
If I decide to go Bluray I can get The Seventh Seal and The Third Man/The 400 blows (haven’t decided yet)
What do you guys suggest?
How are the blu rays?
What is better The Third Man/The 400 Blows and I’ll through in Seven Samurai (though this would be the DVD)?
I don’t think Spielberg is overrated, however not all his film’s are masterpieces and I don’t know why he would attach his name to anything Micheal Bay does (Transformers).
As for overrated directors…………Micheal Mann seems to get high praise. Collateral was a decent film and I hear Public Enemies is lackluster. Though I haven’t seen his two most popular Heat and The Insider.
I suppose I am new here as well. I Stumbled this site a few days ago and have been hooked since.
I’m used to writing on films forums, however I must say this is the most mature forum I have been on as far as film knowledge and language goes. For example, there is not a thread on Transformers 2 that is 30 pages long.
I made a short documentary in highschool and I originally majored in film though I have since switched to political science. I plan to return to filmmaking later in life……..after I become interesting :)
I would tend to think the mini-series is perhaps the best way to tell a story that cannot be told in the traditional time restraints on a film.
With that said I would like to see faithful adaptions of A Tale of Two Cities and Les Miserables, both of which length makes it impossible to fit into a 3 hour film.

What's the point of watching a film? almost 3 years ago
Entertainment? That word has various connotations.
For example I’m not sure if I would call a film like Brokeback Mountain entertaining.
I watch movies for growth. Call it enlightenment if you want.
