I... It... Well... It exists. And it isn't bad. I just never felt anything about it one way or the other, despite many laugh-out-loud moments.
Gets the comedy but not the drama, and even then it's often awkward.
Not at all worth the vitriol many are spewing at it. I give props to any film that allows its child protagonist to be as frustrating as any real child would be. That the kid gives a great performance is just icing on the cake. Say what you will, but the film takes some big risks, and a lot of them pay off. And yeah: I teared up for long stretches.
It's no masterpiece, but it's one of the best films of 2011 and one of the few films to be worth the extra cash to see in IMAX. That sequence with Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt climbing the tallest building in the world? Sometimes one word is all that's necessary: AWESOME!
Second-best action movie of 2011. Shockingly good.
When it's in suspense mode, as in the stellar opening sequence, nothing from the aughts can touch it. Elsewhere, it's not quite as good.
An excellent film version of a perfect play. Not perfect, but as stage-to-screen adaptations go, it's one of the better ones.
As a 10-year-old boy, Beth's death scene practically made me cry. It still holds up over a decade later.
This really isn't a particularly good film, but I kinda love it anyway!
Simply never stops being laugh-out-loud funny, no matter how many times I see it. ...and don't call me Shirley!
One of the best of a remarkable run of great family films from the 90s. I wish Cuaron would do more in this vein.
Greatest film score of all time? Quite possibly!
Absolutely hypnotic... until those damn frogs start falling.
Totally agree. Awesome guilty pleasure flick that I will probably never get tired of.
Just thinking about this movie makes me cry. In the theater I was a bawling mess for the last ten minutes. I still have no idea why.
