Native Land

This is an important film, a good resource when learning about democracy in the US. The extent of the fascism of politics and business is delved into along with the twisting of movements.

Mike's Murder

The Gov. creates the crime, decides the law, it's business, it's making money, the Gov. keeps itself busy cleaning up the crime it designs. The Government uses crime to paint itself as an image of righteousness. Great example is Hoover and the ol' gangsters. Also prohibition of alcohol is a great example.

Rick Moranis

That was harsh of me, the man lost his wife, I can only sympathize with such a tragedy, and I have enjoyed his performances on SCTV as a kid, I kinda grew up seeing this fella, he deserves more respect than scrutinizing his name.

About an attorney (who seems to be either a senior partner or office manager) with a sexual pre-occupation for young female employees in his office, & sexual harassment in the workplace. The film also explores the taboo subjects of pedophilia, infidelity, & other unpleasant topics. Although the film is very well done, it's hard to follow at times due to the frequent use of confusing flashbacks, unusual lighting, camera angles & sounds, that combine to result in a distortion that becomes dream-like at times. The key to this very unusual movie is contained in a statement made by Williamson's character ("If the people who matter to you, don't care about you anymore, then you cease to exist"). Williamson has little joy in life. He is bored with his bland & sexless wife. He is bored with the social events that his wife plans for them. He is bored with his job, which he finds dull & meaningless. He looks for things to arouse some emotion in his emotionless character, & he finds that hurting other people makes him feel good or at least feel something. Engaging in illicit activities also makes him feel good, partially because he hurts other people while he engages in these activities. He thrives on watching the reactions & emotions (albeit negative) of the persons he hurts. His mistress understands him quite well & loves him, but due to her intelligence & insight, is aware that he will (again) end up hurting her, so she breaks off their relationship. Williamson loves his daughter, but she cares little. He proceeds to alienate his wife, daughter, & mistress, all of the people who care about him the most, to the point where no one is willing to put up with his obsessive sexual thoughts & compulsive sexual behaviors. Then, inside a police van on the way to the police station/jail (a scene which both starts & ends the film), the screen goes blank in the area where Williamson is supposed to be. He has ceased to exist. Difficult to watch due to subject matter that makes the viewer feel uncomfortable; difficult to comprehend due to the use of confusing flashbacks. But ultimately worthwhile due to outstanding acting/directing & social significance of the subject matter, & a masterpiece of Existentialism. Needless to say, this is not a film for casual viewing, nor is it a "happy" film.

Definitely not Stalker's Zone...I think there should be a monument put up in the Zone inscribed: We Fucked Up, with signatures businesses and government and people who were involved with the construction of the plant, the decision makers who decided to use nuclear power etc. And another monument inscribed We Have Been Fucked: with a electronic list, so anyone who visits this monument can place their name.

"The language & symbols of American fascism would have little to do with the original European models. They would have to be as familiar & reassuring to loyal Americans as the language & symbols of the original fascisms were familiar & reassuring to Italians & Germans. No swastikas in American fascism, by stars, stripes & Christian crosses. An American fascism would transform these symbols into obligatory litmus tests for detecting the internal enemy." - Robert O. After being debriefed by CIA field agent Felix Rodriquez, Che Guevara is executed in a schoolhouse in La Higuera, Bolivia. Guevara had been captured by the Bolivian 2nd Ranger Battalion, which was specially trained by U.S. Army Special Forces to catch him.

On July 7, 1953, Guevara set out again, this time to Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Hinduras and El Salvador. On December 10, 1953, before leaving for Guatemala, Guevara sent and update to his Aunt Beatriz from San Jose, Costa Rica. Speaks of traversing through the dominions of the United Fruit Company (listed above), how terrible the Capitalist Octupuses are. This affirmed his head hunting tone, necessity for armed struggle and taking initiative against imperialism. He wrote on a photograph of then recently deceased Stalin vowing not to rest until these octopuses have been vanquished. Later in July, Guevara arrived in Guatemala where President Jacobo Arbenz Guzman headed a democratically elected government that, through land reform was attempting to end the latifundia system. To accomplish this, Arbenz had enacted a major land feform program, where all uncultivated portions of large land holdings were to be expropriated and redistributed to landless peasants. The biggest land owner, and one most affected by the reforms, was the United Fruit Company, from which the Arbenz gov. had already taken more than 225,000 uncultivated acres. Pleased with the road the nation was heading down, Guevara decided to settle down in Guatemala so as to perfect himself and accomplish whatever may be necessary. In Guatemala City, Guevara sought out Hilda Gadea Acosta, a Peruvian economist who was well-connected politically as a member of the APRA. She introduced to high officials of the Arbenz Gov. Guevara then established contact with a group of Cuban exiles linked to Fidel Castro through the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba. During this period he acquired his famous nickname, due to his frequen use of the Argentine vocative interjection che, a slang casual speech filler used similarly to "eh" or "pal". Guevara's attempts to obtain medical internship were unsuccessful and his economic situation was often precarious. On May 15, 1954, a shipment of Skoda infantry and light artillery weopons was sent from Czech for Guatemala. Guevara was eager to fight on behalf of Arbenz and joined an armed milita organized by communist youth, but frustrated with the groups inaction he soon returned to medical duties. Following the American Coup Arbenz took refuge in the MExican Embassy. Guevaras repeated calls to resist were noted by supporters of the coup and he was marked for murder. After Gadea was arrested Guevara sought protection inside the Argentine consulate, where he remained until he received a safe-conduct pass some weeks later and made his way to mexico. Her married Gadea in MExico in Sept. 1955. The overthrow of ARbenz cemented Guevaras view of the US as an imperialist power that would oppose and attempt to destroy any governments that sought to redress the socioeconomic inequality endemic. "The last Latin American revolutionary democracy - that of Jacobo Arbenz - failed as a result of the cold premeditated aggression carried out by the USA it's visible head was the Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, a man who, through a rare coincidence, was also a stockholder and attorney for the United Fruit Company...

"The few own the many because they possess the means of livelihood of all... The country is governed for the richest, for the corporations, the bankers, the land speculators, and for the exploiters of labor. The majority of mankind are working people. So long as their fair demands - the ownership and control of their livelihoods - are set at naught, we can have neither men's rights nor women's rights. The majority of mankind is ground down by industrial oppression in order that the small remnant may live in ease."

The tragedy of the people of Palestine is that their country was "given" by foreign power to another people for the creation of a new state. The result was that many hundreds of thousands of innocent people were made permanently homeless. With every new conflict their numbers increased. How much longer is the world willing to endure this spectacle of wanton cruelty? It is abundantly clear that the refugees have very right to the homeland from which they were driven, and the denial of this right is at the heart of the continuing conflict. No people anywhere in the world would accept being expelled en masse from their own country; how can anyone require the people of Palestine to accept a punishment which nobody else would tolerate? A permanent just settlement of the refugees in their homeland is an essential ingredient of any genuine settlement in the middle east. We are frequently told that we must sympathize with Israel because of the suffering of the Jews in Europe at the hands of the Nazis. What Israel is doing today cannot be condoned, and to invoke the horrors of the past to justify those of the present is a gross hypocrisy.

The 400 Million

After the war, MacArthur decided it was necessary for the recovery of the Japanese nation to maintain continuity in the form of the Emperor. SO everybody involved in War Crimes trials scrupulously avoided any mention of Hirohito. Even the defendants played along, despite the fact that it would have helped their cases to claim that they were following orders. When Tojo told his lawyer that the subjects of Japan can never say or do anything against His Majesty's will the prosecutors convinced him to to say that on the stand

Marilyn Monroe

Supposedly, Monroe had as many as a dozen abortions over the years. Her job was terminated at Fox Studio. RFK wasn't returning her calls. Marilyn Monroe was found dead from an overdoes of sleeping pills on Aug. 5,1962, by her housekeeper Eunice Murray. She was naked, atop her telephone on her bed, with unhealthy levels of barbiturates in her bloodstream. But typical signs of barbiturate overdoes were absent. Evidence is missing from the original autopsy, her suicide note, which did not mention suicide, and the original police report. In 1985 a 20/20 episode was to air where Robert Slatzer postulates that Monroe was killed by RFK or was present when she died. The show is canceled. Marilyn is buried at Westwood Memorial Cemetery, Hugh Hefner will be placed next to her.

"Teach the ignorant as much as you can; society is culpable in not providing a free education for all and it must answer for the night which it produces. If the soul is left in darkness sins will be committed. The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but he who causes the darkness."
