Yay! I'm going to go ahead and take full responsibility for this movie being here. I have no idea why but I love this stupid movie!! Totally a guilty pleasure.
Honest, raw, and authentic. It’s a pretty realistic illustration of what recovery looks like. The family dynamics are on point and the Kym’s behaviors and self absorption mimic what I have seen in numerous addicts. (personally know addicts and used to be a therapist at a drug rehab center). Glad I gave miss Hathaway a chance, cuz I can't stand her...
I don't get it...
Disappointing. Three stars for good acting and for being visually appealing, but the story line was completely predictable. I was really hoping to be presented with a novel, unexpected ending, something creative and imaginative.
there is one scene of authentic emotionality, the rest is an intentional farce. very funny and visually entertaining.
Where are all those banned Disney movies?
Dark and dreadful. Chilling experience.
Conceptually, I understand how this took place, but my heart will never be able to grasp such inhumanity
Gena Rowlands is amazing. As a therapist who has worked with clients coping with severe mental disorders, I can say that Gena's portrayal is pretty darn good! The depiction of family dysfunction in general is on point.
I'm a vegetarian and I still loved this!
I don't get it...why do people like this movie?
I'm confused about why Nick Cage started acting like Nixon mid-way through the film.... not as Herzogian (?) as I would have liked it to be, but good acting by nick cage none-the-less...I thought it was comical.
Mo'Nique really surprised me with her performance in this movie... In agreement with Courtney, below, the Oprah shout out was obnoxious.
