I only buy movies I’ve previously seen with the following exceptions:
a) its a Criterion (so far I’ve enjoyed at least 90 percent of Criterion movies viewed)
b) its a good deal (I mainly shop at half-price books)
If I really enjoyed the movie, chances are I’ll buy it. Then again, there are some movies out there that I’ve really liked, but I haven’t been willing to shell out the dollars for them. Examples would be: As Good as it Gets, Dances with Wolves, Planet of the Apes, The Grapes of Wrath, Silence of the Lambs, Fargo, Rocky, and the Star Wars Trilogy.
I guess sometimes a movie is good once, but I have no desire to watch it again or make someone else watch it.

“A Song of Ice and Fire” series by George R.R. Martin. Directed by Peter Jackson perhaps.
