Actually. I did. ;)
While watching this film I was constantly reminded of Zerkalo, a much more well-rounded work in my opinion. Malick goes for impressions and glimpses of life and memories as well as for the big scope. Though I was entranced with the beautiful imagery (even in the 'beginning of the universe' segment), this movie left me feeling like there's something missing that Zerkalo did have that made it a truly major experience.
Everything is pretty much adequate and there are even some competent thrilling scenes in this generic action film beneath which lay some interesting Orwellian ideas that never really get traction as they get overshadowed by bad CGI and bland direction.
Preposterous in the most enjoyable way.
I had no idea Monica Vitti could be this amazingly hilarious! Her performance and Monicelli's kinetic directing style deliver the laughs non-stop.
This film delivers an impressive punch on the second viewing. Beautifully overwhelming.
I bet Lady Gaga herself added this film to Mubi so she'd feel more artistic and trascendental.
This was a very unsettling and disturbing experience that matches some of Haneke's and von Trier's best work.
This movie is pure asurrealist awesomeness. At times it's just overwhelmingly hilarious and the ending is impressively heartbreaking. Takahata should work way much more than he does.
I'm surprised a big hollywood studio let Verhoeven do this, the satire of american society is as dark as it gets. This film is a blast from beginning to end and has some "I can't believe they did that" scenes!
A really high-concept film with smooth direction and performances, though unremarkable past some interesting ideas floating around.
The sound design in this film is among the best ever.
Shamelessly over the top, and it works (rather perfectly). The last act is jaw-dropping and exquisite.
Maggie Smith is impressive in this: insightful, tender, hilarious and always standing still. A once in a lifetime, flawed character for her in a witty film by Neame.
This seems very promising. The trailer screems HITCHCOCK done right!
Favorite movie ever when I was a child
I might be wrong, but I saw it as a fascinating take on postpartum depression. The eery atmosphere and excellent performances enhance it.
Hilarious satire. Kitsch-y settings and great performances!
The film is somewhat bland but Pfeiffer more than makes up for it with her astonishing performance.
Cukor's acomplishment lies in the gothic atmosphere of the film. Bergman is marvelous.
Some scenes in this film are unbareably shocking. As usual, excellent work from Haneke. Benefits largely from repeating viewings.
Despite minor screenplay flaws, this is a very powerful film that subtly talks about topics regarding life choices, and what being a woman and a mother means. Bening delivers what might well be her finest performance to date. She's marvelous to look at.
Not as much fun as I hoped it would be, though the final 40 minutes are a blissful delight.
This is a very well shot and written film with a horribly disastrous leading performance, which makes the mix truly enjoyable and a lot of trashy fun. It's clear a lot of people just don't get the tongue-in-cheek key in which everything is set, said and placed in this.
Somewhat bland and waaaay overpraised though solid in every aspect.
A gripping thriller with great performances. I could not stop thinking how much, much better this was than the bland overpraised 'El secreto de sus ojos'.
Trashy fun.
A lot of fun. I could not stop laughing throughout. Sure to become a camp classic.
A very depressing and equally beautiful tale that questions what really makes us human. The pacing goes on point with the message of the film, the cinematography serves the viewers with haunting metaphors and the acting just could not be better.
The tone is pitch perfect in the first half, with very enjoyable performances from the three leads. The ending may be a little overlong, but it's still a biopic on subjects you wouldn't think could be this entertaining.
This film is absolutely annoying. Some segments of the film occassionally work mainly because of the visuals, but by the middle it just derails.
