Hello, Check out some films from Garage, http://www.theauteurs.com/garage/films. Cheers
What you said about Lawrence of Arabia and not wanting to ruin the "magical element," is something I agree with in general. The movies I like get a certain amount of critique as I watch them, but I don't go on to such a degree that I can't enjoy it the next time. At the same time, movies that suck, in the same way, sometimes leave me without reason to think so other than my intuitions that they are bad films. I hate wasting the time to really sort out the reasons for hating movies that seem to obviously suck. Unless the the reasons are real obvious. I feel that I'm rambling, so I'll stop there.
Although I liked Vicky Cristina Barcelona more than you apparently did, I must admit that your critique was quite funny. In general I think Woody Allen films are "Cute, but a precious waste of time." Except for you know Annie Hall, Manhattan, and maybe like five minutes here and there in some others. Like in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, when Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johanson kiss. LOL
Did you end up seeing any other Truffaut films? Because I would certainly not call Breathless a Truffaut film and if you are a fan of the Nouvelle Vague who is "wildly romantic", there is much more Truffaut out there to get.
