Hello Vahid :) Glad to find you're interested in nice cinematography. I want to introduce you an underrated 1984 Chinese film which definitely deserve in the list. You can watch it here: http://www.56.com/u46/v_ODYzNjI3OTU.html (without subtitles but you can just judge the scene). It is not in the mubi database yet and I'm try to submitting it. :)
Hello, Vahid. I hope you can help me. A friend and I watched "A Separation" (Farhadi, 2011) several months ago. I really enjoyed the film and the story. My friend, however, told me that it was completely unrealistic. She insisted that an Iranian woman would never act this way in a million years. My friend also insisted that the mother would be shunned by her own parents and would never be accepted into her own family home again, having acted so selfishly (in wanting to leave her disabled father-in-law behind). Is my friend right? Is this middle-class woman's behaviour completely unimaginable, for people from that social milieu, in today's Iran? Thank you for your help in answering this question. Pablo
OK, Thanks ALL IS GRACE. VAHID, I would be very proud of Kiarostami, too!. I told my friend what you guys said regarding "A Separation", but she complained that I had asked the wrong question. I'm sorry to have to ask you another one. My friend actually asked this: **In real life, would Simin's PARENTS be supportive of their daughter's decision, or would they be angry at her for her choice to go to another country and leave her father-in-law behind?** My friend says the story is unrealistic, because Simin's parents would never agree with her, because her choice (to leave her father-in-law behind) would be seen by their society (even the educated upper middle-class) as the WORST SOCIAL CRIME a person could commit, and her parents would never agree to see her again, or to have Simin in their house, or visit their house, again. Thanks again for your help! Pablo
The Worst Social Crime is so hyperbolic even for Iran,I think she would be supportive,in nowadays Iran i don't think families care about each other in that way, beside that from the film we can't know is she supportive or not,Farhadi didn't go deep in Simin and her mother's relation maybe she wouldn't be supportive but we didn't see that in the film.
I just want to say that I like this whole discussion. And I loved the film. It was hyped for me so I was set up to love it, but the film I saw was so different from my expectations, and in a much richer and more rewarding way.
Thanks for following. You seem to have an inclination toward emotional and sensual films--congratulations.
