No Strings Attached

Ahaha ok Miss Portman, guess you can get away with this movie after Black Swan..

X-Men: First Class

Fassbender and McAvoy made this film. Great performances and chemistry.

X-Men: First Class

I felt ridiculous watching this.. *shudders*

Bram Stoker's Dracula

This film may not have wholy portrayed the horrors of the holocaust, but it's about the persistence of innocence. I found the simplicity of the depiction more haunting, to be honest.. By the end of the movie, I felt empty.. and trapped in a glass case of some emotion that won't let me shed a tear... beautiful film.

As usual, slow and dull in some parts (seems to be one of Yates's outstanding trademarks on HP films). Nonetheless, the action scenes were brilliantly executed and even emotional in some. Beautiful visuals as always. I loved the little changes they made from the book. An honourable mention is Alan Rickman, who I must say delivered quite a great performance. ...I'm feeling the early signs of depression now...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

This is just uncalled for.

The Hangover: Part II

I cannot get over how beautiful this film is - and I mean beautiful at every depth and angle. I think one has to see it more than twice to fully appreciate (and potentially LOVE) it. I always get something new each time I watch Eternal Sunshine, and the 'moving' factor doesn't ever falter. The script and the visuals are particularly genius.

Coraline

Eerie and nightmarish - and it managed to be so with flying(dark) colours. It's a shame I didn't see Coraline in the theatres, would've been a much richer experience (the web scene = holy sh*t, I almost hid under my blanket). Definitely the best stop-motion film I've ever seen.

Coraline

Very quirky and entertaining, had some really flash special effects and camera gimmicks. Kick-Ass is waaayyyy better though.

The Tourist

An epic disappointment. A really lame movie. What. the. hell. Mr Von Donnersmarck.

Black Swan

A little pornographic [not that I'm complaining], but definitely a masterpiece. Everyone and everything was effing brilliant. Would probably go down as one of the most confusing films made, among Fight Club and Mullholland Drive.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Got the impression that this film tries to please a little too hard, i.e. with its witty lines and badass everything. Entertaining though, just wasn't blown away.

The King's Speech

From an aspiring speech therapist's POV, this movie made me more emotional than The Diving Bell And The Butterfly. There's good humour too, but based on my cinema experience, the older generation seemed to appreciate it more than the younger/my generation. Cinematography + soundtrack was spectacular, and Firth's and Rush's performances were glorious. Just wish I had a deeper history background before I saw this.

In Bruges

Fcking brilliant and impressively funny! I can't remember dark humour this explosive and brilliant. Film's also surprisingly moving, has some moral elements. The narrative excellently done; the actors' performances spiffing (Ralph Fiennes's cockney accent = brilliant). Watching the deleted scenes answered some questions the film didn't fully answer, but nonetheless, the movie's a confident masterpiece, me thinks.

In Bruges

Brilliant for book purists, but quite dull as a movie.. it felt like the film was dragging, like HP5 and HP6 (I truly wish Alfonso Cuaron did the whole series!). The film just lacks some can't-take-my-eyes-off-the-screen sort of pace. The film had awesome scenes though, but overall as a film.. it's a bit 'meh'.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

This still stands for me as the best HP film. It's saddening Cuaron didn't direct all the installments - his style and vision are such a perfect match to Harry Potter's world!! HP3 is honestly the only one among the series that leaves me impressed still. Cuaron knew how to keep the pace up whilst putting enough attention on the crucial bits regarding the book's plot - something David Yates has woefully failed in.

The Lovely Bones

Painfully slow-paced and poetic - although beautiful visually. I wish the length of the 'grieving process' was more pronounced. Having read and studied the book definitely came in handy (-:

Alice in Wonderland

Such a disappointment. Ugh, I might need to recover to intelligbly gather and regurgitate my thoughts. But yes, I do agree with Christopher Smith below. It's very much like Narnia. It was highly anticipated, then you realize it's really not so worth it. And it's the first movie I saw in 3D!! Hmm, it just wasn't as thrilling or absorbing as I thought it would be.

Across the Universe

One reason I saw this film: "The Beatles" is written all over it. Soundtrack is decently modernized, but some are just OTT & meant to be skipped. I found the film is shabby at parts and lack flow. It seems like Julie Taymor is a little TOO ambitious - ie, Mr Kite and Dr Robert are WTF additions (seems like a desperate attempt to accommodate Beatles songs that are irrelevant to the story). Visuals are a plus though :)

A Hard Day's Night

LOVE. I can never get enough of The Beatles and their sense of humour. Truly the best of all the films they made.

The only disreputable thing about this movie is that The Beatles aren't voiced by The Beatles.

The Shining

I am honestly a little disappointed with this Kubrick film. Don't get me wrong, I gave it a few try-agains. I just wasn't as psychologically affected as I hoped.

The Shining

Too many people consider this as the greatest film ever made. It's #1 in imdB's Top 250 films, etc. Why not, I know. But I much prefer The Godfather Part I or II.

Mulholland Drive

Whoa, I've never been so confused! This film is quite a cinematic experience, it's so mesmerizing - the structure reminds me that of Pulp Fiction. I'd highly recommend that people see this more than once - I'll definitely will!

Mulholland Drive

I don't seem to have the radar to get the "sexy" aspect of this film, but I can't deny the beauty in the way it's crafted. I am saddened about the ending though, tis one of those sad poet-driven endings.

Wrenching, depressing and haunting. I needed Walt DIsney classic films to recover from this movie. Nonetheless, it's a must-see.

Suspiria

An odd film. Impressive visually, is indeed a "candy-coloured nightmare". Although I feel like it lacks something (I didn't find it that engaging and wouldn't have finished it if it wasn't for the visuals). The acting and the music is a little off my taste, but others may find the movie satisfying.
