About Me

I find these awkward but let’s give this a shot. I’ve seen a lot a films but I need to see a lot more. There’s plenty of essentials I still need to see though I’m equally interested in finding obscure titles and appreciating less conventional choices.

Right now it’s kind of a free for all, I throw films on my favorites pretty quickly. When I get up to 1,000 favorites I’ll cut it down to a concise top 100 or even a top 50 but for right now its open season.

I follow everyone who follows me.

My cousin recommended me this film. I asked him what it was about. He told me 'awesome' is what it's about. I watched it. I realized my cousin was idiot.

Thank you sir! And no prob, I need to read more of Martins criticism. Moonfleet was a blast, its a little uneventful but there's a weird otherworldly quality to it that I loved .

Thank you for reminding me about the blurb I wrote on Wheels on Meals, still making me laugh.

No problem, it's a great observation, the film was blast and as great as final fights are I think my favorite sequence is where they first set up with the food truck, the whole rhythm of that bit is fantastic.

I would recommend some films from director Tsui Hark: Peking Opera Blues, Time & Tide. Other Jackie Chan favorites: Police Story, Wheals on Meals, Drunken Master 2. Sammo Hung: Pedicap Driver. 'Girls with guns' flicks: Yes Madam, She Shoots Straight. Yuen Biao: Righting Wrongs AKA Above the Law, On the Run. Jet Li: Fist of Legend, My Father is a Hero AKA The Enforcer. Chow Yun Fat: Tiger on Beat. Full Contact. Donnie Yen: In the Line of Duty IV. Tiger Cage 2. Both of those Donnie Yen movies are sequels but they're unrelated to the other films in the series. [And all of these are some of my all time favorites.]

Run of the Arrow

I finally had the opportunity to obtain a copy of Fuller’s neglected ‘Run of the Arrow’. The print was a little fuzzy and the sound was not always clear but the film was still well worth the wait…  read review

Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath is one of Bava’s most important entries though I’d hardly call it his best. While it’s one of his most popular, the film on a whole isn’t quite as inventive as ‘Black Sunday’ or ‘Kill…  read review

While Clint Eastwood is usually associated with the director who started his career Sergio Leone, he’s always bore far more resemblance and himself held more admiration for American master John Ford…  read review
