hm... i respect that. though i felt the exact opposite: D9 went beyond, for me, espcially having recently been in south africa and visiting soweto. whereas DK was offensive -- especially with little 8-year-old kids (not mine) sitting near me in the theater, i felt that having pencils shoved into eye-sockets, and stylizing 9/11-like images for a comic book movie was ridonculous. but we agree on knife in the water...! and alloy orchestra...! hey, i'm happy.
i hated district 9, i found it offensively simple. i know dark knight is not in the ranks of the others, but personally it went beyond what it is...which is a blockbuster. and i appreciate that. i have seen the alloy orchestra accompanying the last command at the somerville theater. it was beautiful. ps knife in the water is wonderful.
