This truly is,(no matter what the opinion or the source) the Science Fiction Epic Masterpiece of cinema history. It might be shallow and sixties, it might be vague but it's themes, it's principles retain a fear of great consistency within me. Man's ultimate fear is represented here. The quiet of a fearful reality, or a dream, a nightmare...on of those quiet visions of worlds that do not exist but feel so real.
umm, masterpiece. Enough said.
Seventh Seal, The Devil's Eye, and this are my favorite Bergman films. Of course it's hard to deny Wild Strawberries, Passion of Anna, Shame, Persona, etc. We could be here for days, to me, no Bergman film deserves less than four stars. The man is master.
This movie is utterly pointless and that maybe be why it's so entertaining...ha. I love it!
That man is the definition of the word hunk.
Why when it shows up that I'm a fan of her on any other page, it mentions her films including What Has Happened To Rosemary's Baby, and Inside Daisy Clover instead of mentioning something like Whatever Happened To Aunt Alice. Seriously? How can you not mention Harold and Maude??!
Watching it as a child, watching it a few years later, and watching finally again now as an adult and continuous film lover...I have to say, that this film is a masterpiece, and Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Leigh are both talented geniuses
Her laugh at the end of each horrific crime is just amazing...that cackle.
Not afraid to play mania, old, drunk, ugly, puffy, without makeup, dead hair and a very raw flamboyant theater presence.
His films(written and directed)...the writing is like extremely trashy Tennessee Williams.
I'm sorry, I'm sure this is a good film. I just cannot condone any film synopsis that thinks it has the right to reference the opinions and unknown reactions of Mr. Alfred Hitchcock...
Is it just me, or does Kay Hammond's character seem like muse for Agnes Moorehead as Endora.
Was this all she was in? She's hilarious in Blithe Spirit!
I was going to say, there could be no way that this film was made in the United States. For 1945 it's got quite some racy dialogue.
This movie is amazing...if for nothing else Gene Tierny, and how magnificently evil and beautiful she is in Technicolor.
such a talent, so gorgeous in technicolor. I thought she was amazing in Ghost and Mrs. Muir(1947) and Leave Her To Heaven(1945) which by the way are too completely polar opposite women...
she's awesome. Her page is so small ha.
I love her in The Old Dark House. The first scene is amazing because of her memorable voice...it sounds like a young Bette Davis saying "At school I was known as the 'athletic type'. How about a Welch Rabbit?"
What the woman went through as a female AND a star. There are not many moments when you see the real woman, for me, until she sings...her acting is genius, but that voice! Anyone can make a song for a musical film, but to be HER and have that voice...the most underrated talent in the history of film.
Michelle Williams takes the cake in this one. She does the voice very well, and the look, and the gestures, and the movements. Eddie Redmayne is stunningly gorgeous as always, Judi Dench is superb.
I'm seeing this tonight, very excited.
I find his odd almost European fashion model appearance to be extremely eye catching. The first film I ever saw him in was "Elizabeth" and he was beautiful. With that red hair, big brown eyes, and freckles...he melts me heart.
I have been in love with him my whole life it seems. And now that he's thirty eight and unbelievably talented and extremely handsome I am even more now...
He's like a good strong, tall southern boy with a squinted look in his eye and very monotone voice. He reminds me of Orson Welles when he was young and I find him extremely attractive.
He has some serious issues with women.
watching Hepburn do her best impression of Mae West in the prison cell escape scene, is just perfect classic Hollywood brilliance
"Richest family in a small town, it's front page news if one of 'em takes a shit!"
When I was young, I loved this film.
She's gorgeous, but not a good actress what so ever!"
Rex Harrison is fabulous, and Kay Kendall was a scream.
