Gus Van Sant has soiled the memories of those that have died in High School shootings. The movie although shot well, was not shot well enough to compensate for lack of acting skill, lack of story, and lack of interest. Nothing but "teen angst" bull. A horrible attempt at filmmaking. I want my money and time back.
Awesome movie. One of Hitchcock's finest. All I can say is, where can I get a lighter like that?
Having seen movies of his like "Young Frankenstein" and "Blazing Saddles" first, I'm sorry to say that "History..." left me wanting more. Although filled with classic Mel humor, and the 'jews in space' bit was more than amusing, it was a bit drawn out in places. Also, you can only use the same joke a few times before it loses its effect.
As a huge fan of the Zombie genre and a devoted follower to Romero, I would have to say that this movie gets about a 3 1/2. This is what I would call the American attempt at "Shaun of the Dead". Decent special fx and zombie makeup, this movie focused more on the comedic side of zombies. On that note, I would say that it is saddening to see zombies being turned from horror to comedy. They are much better for satrire.
I was a HUGE fan of the TV show, so when I saw this trailer in theaters I was both excited as well as scared. I didn't need to be scared though. It was a nice modernization of a classic 80's TV show. Although it lacked a bit in story sometimes, and I personally would have chosen a different (better) Crockett, it is a visually amazing movie. It's definitely worth watching as an example of modern, urban, and gritty.
This is almost the ultimate when it comes to Bond films. Connery at his Bondiest.
