Let George Do It!

A truly great film. Subtle characters. Stupendous singing. Great dialogue. Varnel was a true auteur.

Germans aren't portrayed well because Americans have become allies with Israel after the Jewish owned world banks took over America in the early 1900's. So it's guilty by association. To portray Germans well is almost the same as saying that Nazi's are good. Since the Jewish people have a collective consciousness they are simply looking out for their survival using cunning and any other means necessary. While on an individual level it is easy to argue that Germans are superior in intellect to many around the world no man is an island the many are stronger than the one. Which is why you see many prominent and accomplished individual Germans but successful groups of Jewish people given their collective intelligence. Nothing is good or bad but what we make it. I live in America and must side with the Jewish people. All non-Jewish people are seen as Goyim and that's just the way it is. I must admit though, Peobody, Ari, Meg said things in a way that could have been done better, but again, I'm American and for better or worse must side with them though you came across as more intelligent and informed.

I thought I would move the Shostakovich discussion here - since everyone's all mad on the other thread. I think I will take your advice and find a dvd of "Lady Macbeth..." unfortunately Netflix doesn't have the De Nederlandse Opera DVD, but they have a version with "a Czechoslovakian cast lip-synching to a recording of a performance conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich." Do you know anything about that version? I've listened to some excerpts of the opera on CD, but didn't find it particularly interesting, so I'm excited to see the visuals, especially since the story sounds so interesting! As far as German films go, I haven't seen many, but wasn't crazy about any of the ones I have seen. :(

One of the all-time greats! So funny, I soiled myself. Repeatedly. You know, it’s not often than I get really excited by a film and this was not one of those times. But having said that, the title…  read review

I was actually looking forward to this film as the music is great. The film is appalling. That’s being tactful. The stilted images and poses are ridiculous. About 2/3rd way through there’s quiite a…  read review

This film really is very funny indeed and has been one of my faves for many a long year. George Hamilton shows he is actually a very good comic actor – his Romanian accent is excellent. Lots of in…  read review

Song of Norway

“Song of Norway” is a 1970 film adaptation of the hideously awful operetta of the same name, directed (if one can be bold enough to use the word) by Andrew Stone. It purports to tell of the early struggles…
