Hey ! I guess not a lot of French-Canadian films are released in France. Some directors such as Denys Arcand and Jean-Marc Vallée enjoy mainstream success but they often don’t have excellent reviews in the French cinema press. On the opposite side, people like Denis Côté are appreciated by critics but I’m not even sure one of his movies has been released in France. In recent years, I think only Xavier Dolan has enjoyed both public and critic success. There is a dossier on Canadian cinema in one of the recent issues of Les Cahiers du Cinéma, I guess it was in October or November 2010. You should check it out !
