It’s almost perfect. It would be perfect if you could do half stars. I think that rating out of 5 stars is like that classic way to rate films, plus I think it works the best.
How can you say if Hitchcock or Bergman is better than Kubrick. That’s like choosing Goodfellas over Heat. There’s a level of brilliance that so many directors have reached and I think it would be nearly impossible to find the one director who is the greatest.
White Christmas (1954)
Director: Michael Curtiz
DP: Loyal Griggs
Cast: Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera-Ellen, Dean Jagger, Mary Wickes, Anne Whitfield
Producer: Robert Emmett Dolan
Screenwriter: Norman Krasna, Norman Panama, Melvin Frank
Composer: Gus Levene (Uncredited), Joseph J. Lilley (Uncredited), Van Cleave (Uncredited)
After leaving the Army after W.W.II, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis team up to become a top song-and-dance act. Davis plays matchmaker and introduces Wallace to a pair of beautiful sisters (Betty and Judy) who also have a song-and-dance act. When Betty and Judy travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis follow, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, is the lodge owner. A series of romantic mix-ups ensue as the performers try to help the General. – IMDB
But anyway, you’re site is really fantastic, I know you are constantly adding more films and I think that’s one of the biggest things that needs to be done. Nothing more annoying than getting excited about adding a film to your favourites that you’ve just seen, only to find out it’s not on here.
Anyway, I’m already noticing great new changes. Keep up the great work!
I’d like to see more poetic films. Although sometimes it’s hard to get hold of films where I live. So if you could recommend some that are quite widely available, that would be great.
THE ANTOINE DOINEL SERIES over 2 years ago
Yes, I bought the Criterion collection of the whole series and watched them all. It’s a fantastic series.
“The 400 Blows” is the best of the series. But “Stolen Kisses” would probably come in second.

Consistant? Tarantino, Sam Mendes and Paul Thomas Anderson because they’ve never made a bad film yet.

Do you think it's wrong to watch a movie online if it's not available in your country? over 2 years ago
I live in Australia and sometimes films I want to see aren’t even planned for release here.
For instance Coppola’s latest film “Tetro” isn’t set to be released here, yet I really wanted to see it.
Do you think it’s wrong to watch it online for free if there’s no other way to see it?
I reckon if I called Francis and asked him, he’d be fine with it. :)
p.s. I’ve already done it, I just thought I’d see what others thought in any case.

This thread wasn’t so I can sleep at night. I don’t have trouble with that.
I was more just curious as a general topic, I wanted to know if anyone thought there was any way to justify watching a film like that.

One thing that bugs me is that once I’ve rated a film, I can no longer see what it’s overall rating is.
I think it would be great if you displayed both ratings.

We have many options but some I’m unfamiliar with.
I know it seems like a big effort but is there anyone that knows how to explain what they all mean?

You should be able to choose any picture you want instead of the small ammount of choices we have.
Even if you go on a film page and select “Use as home picture”.
That would be so great!
