A slow-paced film, but well worth the watch... the ending is just brilliant!
Miranda July's films make me smile :)
Modern-day, French rendition of "Breakfast at Tiffany's." I adore Audrey Tautou and she makes the film work, but overall it just feels lacking and empty.
I love the beauty and the history of filmography, which Scorsese embedded into the film--overall, a masterpiece!
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.” - Dr. Seuss. The environmental issue in the film is very much of importance for today's modern age, as much as it was in 1971 when Dr. Seuss wrote the book! Overall, a good film--not great--the message of the film is definitely worth the watch! I'm sure the book is far better. Dr. Seuss' legacy lives on in his books!
Ben Whishaw's character, Lord Sebastian Flyte, (in the film) is the one whom I could most relate to! I absolutely adore the fashions of the film, the style of the era, the actors within the film, and the beauty of the sceneries + story. It's an overall favorite film of mine... I have yet to read the book.
The message and education of the film is brilliant, though it's only a 1-hr film... it felt a bit shallow. I wish it had gone further in depth with the women's lives and the tragedies of maternal mortality. All I have to say, from my point of view, is "Thank God, I'm blessed to live in America and I do not want kids all the more."
This film may be lesser known, but it is definitely worth the watch! It is a beautiful film all the way through! The film chronicles a girl's search for her father and the path she takes as well as endures. Plus, it caters to men and women in regards to "eye candy." I'm not a huge Christina Ricci fan, though I do admit she's a great actress. The main reasons I wanted to watch the film were Cate Blanchett and Johnny Depp! Johnny Depp is super smoking sexy in this film--but then again, when is he not, right. ;)
This movie seemed to have potential... the first part of the film was grand, magical and I was hopeful. Then toward the end of the film, it just turned unreal and cliche. I expected the film would be far better than what it really was!
Ok I didn't get to catch all of the flick, but I saw the last hour of it and it was hilarious! A truly amazing romantic comedy! Ryan Reynolds is the highlight, but the whole movie was great! The "love is like rain" quote and the message of the movie was brilliant!
A remake of a 1950s film... I felt like I liked it but also disliked it all the same. There wasn't anything surprising or breathtaking about the film. It was just an average film--the good vs. evil, where the good always prevail. The film could have been far more interesting, in my opinion.
The film seemed promising but the film overall was lacking! Not really a fan of Sasha Grey and I don't really see her as a "high-class escort." The film doesn't really delve into any topics/issues really... it just seems like "yeah, it's there, in the world"--that's it.
Over-rated, too much violence, horrendous graphics and utterably predictable! Not worth anyone's time and money!
It was a refreshing, feel-good film! Nothing you anticipate and everything you predict but with a nice twist. Definitely worth watching! P.S. Totally love the LA + NYC city feature, along with the GQ factor!
I saw it three times in theaters (not in a row, though)... the first two times it was amazing... by the third time, it became predictable to me. But, it's a great film--great cast, fashions, cinematography, music, etc. I love the ideals of the basis of the film!
I loved this film - a glamorous psychological thriller! Ballet, costumes and headpieces by fashion design duo Rodarte tag teamed with Swarovski, French actor Vincent Cassel, American actresses Winona Ryder and Natalie Portman - what's not to love! This movie just spells must-see, to me! It was quite a trip. I loved how the director juxtaposed the film to the story of Swan Lake (white swan vs. black swan).
I'm not really a fan of romantic comedies, however the French spin on films is always charming and whimsical! I love the soundtrack and the stars of this film! A definite must-see!
"Paris Je T'aime" was magnificent, however this was a would-be mirror image of "Paris Je T'aime" that failed immensely. It's mostly depressing than lovely!
The film overall was average, but if you look at the actors/characters independently and the fashions of the film then it is brilliant! I admire and adore Coco Chanel's independence and style!
The movie was alright--a bit over hyped, in my view. I think this film is mostly dedicated to the readers, because the film itself just flew by... you can't possibly capture this book in a 2 hr. time frame! The book might be better, I believe, although I haven't read it yet.
Great story! I really loved the quote in the film: "Misery is easy, it’s happiness you have to work at." Lovely songs in the film as well. I especially loved the last song in the film!
One of my favorite British actors! :)
The truth about Nine: http://gawker.com/5435594/ It definitely wasn't that great, minus it's star-studded extravaganza and Daniel Day-Lewis' wonderful portrayal of Guido Contini.
Beautiful man. Wonderful actor.
Every film Rupert Friend does is just magnificent! :) He's a wonderful, talented and hard-working actor as well! xo.
Some parts of the film were rather slow, but it was a lovely tale. It mostly focuses on the personal life and love story of Queen Victoria more so than her reign over England. After watching the film, I realized Prince Albert is a lot like my perfect "better half" / boyfriend! I also really loved certain quotes and the beginning with the family issues since I could easily relate to those topics. Sandy Powell is a magnificent costume designer for this film! The jewels, costumes, wonderful & gorgeous actors/actresses are a definite plus in this film!
Way over-rated; basically the film was like Day After Tomorrow meets Noah's Ark! After a short while, it got quite boring... although the actors and actresses in the film are amazing, they don't do reassure a perfectly lame film/plot.
Definitely a lovely and adorable film with hints of comedy spliced in between. My favorite (silly) quote from the film was when the boy said "Kevin's a girl?" - regarding the big colorful bird. You have to watch it!
Candy & Dan's love, like the heroin they crave, is dangerous and destructive yet violently beautiful. I love this film! There's two portions: Heaven (all the good) & Hell (the worst things to happen to their lives - together and separately). A definite must-see! Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish are amazing in this film!
I adore Tim Burton's films and this is one of my favorites! I'm completely awe-struck by Victor Van Dort a.k.a. my dream man! :) Such a lovely tale, however I fear I'll end up like the Corpse Bride.
