I noticed the film you chose to represent Italy in the MUBI cup is in the current match. Di Sica's_Shoeshine_. Are you going to participate in the vote?
I'm definitely going to try, but I have an exam around the corner and may not have time to watch the other film. I really hope I can find time though. Have you seen the films?
Saw them both. Shoeshine is great, and its opponent is wonderful as well, an animated short from Estonia. Match is finished--a tie.
i saw 'the beach boys' last week on the 50th anniversary tour. as expected there were some great and not-so-great moments, but it was fun. they sounded good, mainly due to the use of brian's backing band (wondermints,etc.). there was a cool carl/denny tribute in which they played and sang along to live vocals/video of 'forever' and 'god only knows'... and they even played some unexpected tunes like 'all this is that' (which sounded great!)
wow, nice! those tributes sound good, especially the live vocals - did the crowd react to them well?
well, the problem with their current tour is that they are playing mostly big festivals, and fairgrounds, so the people who come out to those mainly want to hear the 'oldies radio' hits. it seems like the crowd at the one i went to responded more to 'fun fun fun', 'be true to your school',etc. but luckily, they played for 3 hours so they were able to fit in a good mix of tunes.
You too :) yeah, same with me, I like pretty much everything from "Surfin' Safari" to "Love You", but can't stand their '80s stuff haha
Yeah, for me the highlights of those two were definitely "My Diane" and "Baby Blue"
