Completely disagree, Goya's "the sleep of reason brings forth monsters" is omnipotent in this film showing just how primitive & unfitting the attitudes rooted in Bronze Age superstition are in today's modern society.
Is he an angel? A devil? A wizard? Is he god? A supernatural being? These are the questions that keeps bothering me for the whole time while watching it! It is my firstDumont film and I think im gonna watch some more..
My number one Fellini film! A magnificent and surreal film about a problematic man facing his own delirium and death...
Another masterpice from Inaritu! my tears shed on the birthday cake scene, I dont know why! Haha
"Hail satan" those words freaks me out and scares me.... hahahahaha
Kieslowski has this taste and mastery for using simplicity and realism that makes me soft that everytime I watched his film and on the end of it I was like, thank God I am enlightened or I become speechless or my tears would just go down. And even if this one is a love story, still it isn't as "spoonfeeding" type as the usual love story that we would encounter.. this guy never fail me..
Typical story. The beuty of it was despite of those harshness and brutality of life they managed to show it on a lighter note. It was depressing and it feels like that if your life is full of shit, end it...
It tells how small our world are and how magical and brutal it can be..
Very good direction and cinematography.. Its been a long since I've wept on a love story!! And the lead actress was very good especially that confrontation seen!!
On some of the films, religion has always been the antagonist, but this time, it is the victim because of a lost individual... The intensity was making me jump of my seat!!! And the ending was just perfect...
Acting, cinematography and camera movements are all very relaxing, peaceful and sexual..
I thought Bergman has already exposed everything but not after watching this... Those exact inner most thoughts that every person wants to say to someone comes to life... Another Bergman essential...
T'was like Salo!!! haha... Thank God my parents did not end into this!!
I've waited for it for 4 years and I must say that my long wait didn't disappoint me. What I like about this film is that it is very Filipino in terms of superstitions, saying and tradition. It was perfectly directed that shown Filipino culture.
That's it?? Is this really a Truffaut film?? It is not exceptional and it doesn't have any impact unlike his other works... It should have been a great film but it isn't...
This is why I really admire Andersson's works. He balances the mood of the film perfectly. Even though the film is somewhat serious but he never forgets to joke.
Before I met Bergman and his works I was first fell in love with this movie!!!! hahahahahahahha, seriously!!! And I'm not ashamed of it!!!
This is what I love Chaplin's ending... No explanations and whatsoever after the characters met, if it ends it ends...
