Zulawski's Possession is a great place to start,Brian. He also made lots of masterpieces,like the beautiful L'Important C'est d'aimer for example. There's a movie I recommend you to see called "Daisies", and also some Makavejev films like WR or Innocence Unprotected, similar to some early Von Trier works. Cheers!
