Good point regarding To's work. It's a common misconception that he only makes action/gangster films.. But I wish I were going by what I've seen instead of what I've read, albeit from an authority. Any suggestions?

SPARROW is still my favorite of his films. It's one that almost feels like a Jacques Demy musical. It's so damn airy. I also really enjoy YESTERDAY ONCE MORE, which is basically Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng being movie stars for a couple of hours, though it turns suprirsingly melancholy. DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART! is also a great example of his rom com side (maybe his most formally accomplished in that genre that I've seen). And then there's RUNNING ON KARMA which is pretty much indescribable. A truly sui generis work.

I'm not Indian. I just happen to find the form pretty interesting. Lots of it is trash, but I enjoy a few of the films a lot.
