Fairly pedestrian film noir made better by a fantastic court sequence and some beautiful location shooting. The hall of mirrors scene in the end is absolutely fantastic and Rita Hayworth never looked so good.
Could be the greatest film ever made.
Mitchum is flawless and Greer is an absolute vision. This is my favorite noir.
The restraint shown in this film, not only substantively by the characters, but technically by Wong Kar-Wai is astounding and unparalleled.
Real life is stranger than fiction indeed. Agreed about this story having a slightly dark tone to it at times.
