The book was kind of a revelation for me 20sth years ago, it felt the closest to my own basic perception of life even though on the surface it looked quite far away with its monumental style of writing and described styles of living. I am a bit apprehensive now: what if the magic gets lost... bur what he does with words and thoughts is amazing anyway.

Oh, so you've read it before and are now re-reading it? Cool... I just read it for the first time last year. If you're curious, I have some reviews up on Goodreads: part one ; part two

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this book. It's such a good book to talk about, pity is that nobody's read it so I can't talk about it with anybody haha

Yes After Life is very good too. I love the warmth of his movies, though they are all so different.

Thanks! I loved what you said too. Have you read Rilke's "Letters to a Young Poet"? What you said about solitude reminded me of many of his letters.

I love the few poems I have read (in translation, naturally) by Rilke, but no, I have not read this book. I must! (why can't Mubi have a book "read" list too... must insist on that, all arts should be interrelated and explored without discrimination for maximum saturation and future amazing creation... (yes it's late and I'm babbling, sorry, ha ha ha double parens argh...))...

The Color of Pomegranates

This film is like an intersection between film, painting, poetry, and modern dance. The combination is stunningly powerful and the images are fresh, striking, and moving. What Parajanov succeeds in… read review
