Hi Asia! I'm honored that you'd try to get to all those films, but you shouldn't feel obligated to do so, even though I'd be really interested in your take on them. I was just putting them out there 'cause we seem to share a lot of common film interests. I personally loved Vital; so abstract, such a tragic narrative, beautiful soundtrack. oh well... I'm glad we agree on other Tsukamoto films like Snake of June and Bullet Ballet. Sorry to hear you'd bailed on Afterschool. It does start and end in dark, ugly places, but it is necessary to the character development and ultimately to the observation the film is making on the dislocation/detachment of some of today's youth. I really hope you'll give it another shot someday. Wool 100% was so very bizarre, yet beautiful to look at and hard not to love. It had something very special going on (I understand the woman that made the film is actually an artist of some sort)! Both Bad Guy and Samaritan Girl have been on my list to watch for years, I'll get to them eventually. Glad we both share an appreciation of Kim Ki-Duk. Valerie and Her Week of Wonders has also been on my radar for a while (though I've never seen Company of Wolves, should I?). So many films, so little time... Battle Royale is one of those films that people that know me are always amazed that I haven't seen yet , another would be Save the Green Planet. Again, some rainy day... Saw Martha Marcy May Marlene last weekend. Very excellent, you might want to check it out. Elizabeth Olsen was remarkable, though I have to warn you that it was produced by Afterschool's director. I guess they are part of a group uf NYU Film School buds that work together frequently. All for now, because it is a beautiful summer-like day and I should be outside washing windows instead of surfing! stay in touch...
Here are some films that you want to watch that I have seen and would be very curious to get your reactions to: Lies, Sombre, Crash, Wizards, The Addiction, Nadja, Inland Empire, Ex Drummer, Enter the Void, Come and See, Vital, 3 Women, Fat Girl and Walkabout. Here is a list of films you have seen that I'm interested in checking out: House, Samaritan Girl, Bad Guy, Taxidermia, Valerie and Her Week of Wonders and Battle Royale. Here is a list of films that I've seen but are not on either your faves or watch list that I feel you may want to check out for a numbers of reasons, but primarily because they are provocative or challenging: Trouble Every Day, Primo Amore, Twentynine Palms, Afterschool, Persona, 4, Timecrimes, Red, White and Blue, A Horrible Way to Die, Wool 100% and Clean, Shaven. All for now, let me know...
