Thank you for your kinds words. People do not understand how much of an impact, socially and environmentally, mobile telephones have upon our world. I’ve done some activism in my time, and it always surprised me how many “paranoid anti-government invasion-of-privacy” types proudly brandished mobile phones. I just don’t get it: Woodstock drew 300,000 people, not one person had a cell phone. Back in the ‘80s, only yuppies had them. I’ve had a couple of friends, who are no longer friends, tell me (in an elitist tone) “You need to get a mobile phone”. These people ate terrible food and lacked common social skills and/or public decorum and were hopeless around women. I may not have a cell phone, but I treat my body very well, I’m totally open with people in public and I don’t bury my head in a text message to avoid people in public. Having a mobile phone won’t make me a better person, and I find that mobile phones make people harder to contact. Even worse, I’m paying extra money to call them because they don’t have a hard-line...how’s that convenient for me? People are just too concerned with keeping up with the Jones for the sake of it—in most cases, convenience has nothing to do with it. They’re fibbing to themselves.
I admire people who are passionate and have the courage of their convictions to speak out. Bravo!
