Personally, I think it’s mazochistic for me managing 2! directors
since I’m new with all these but just for the sake of it
I will do my best and hope to cope with.
The only thing that scares me, is making films available for others
through streaming or whatever. I think this is too much.
I believe most of guys here are either KG members or have
rapidshare accounts or have a bunch of dvds or have watched zillions
of art-house films already. I can make screenshots, I can vote,
I can watch films, I can do propaganda(:P), but looking for youtube
streaming links, is not my cup of tea, really. If finding streaming links
is essential, then I guess I can try, but I think it’s pressure for nothing.
Anyways, I can give away both my directors, if you think I’m too soft for this.
no fuss
why not see if we have the right amount of volunteers
dropping their 3rd choice until we reach the desired number
of directors for the world cup and skip all these playoffs?
who are you kidding, anyway?
sticking to “Mubi” is so frustrating.
we already see what this means, regardless
of all the claiming that it’s just a name change.
you made almost every member
sooooooooo disappointed,
still no sweat…
(it’s worst than when last.fm
decided to make us pay $))
you will end up with more members
(who don’t really care about art-house cinema)
and you will lose all the members
that made theauteurs.com what it is.
anyone having a problem seeing Zulawki’s L’important c’est d’aimer
and Nikolaidis’ Singapore Sling? (I mean they are available
in the usual SM, KG & in DVD.) I may try to upload them (close to
voting time) in youtube if someone is experiencing a hard time
“finding” them and is overall interested for these matches.
well i don’t think you can really talk about the greatest this or that.
you can consider the influence the artist had on others of course,
but this can get subjective, too. that’s why i always prefer to talk
about favorite this and that.
some artist do cast a great shadow, but let’s leave that to the
boring critics to decide :P

mubi search engine sucks, that’s a fact.
I recommended once theauteurs.com to a friend
but the poor search engine results hold him back
and made me look like a fool for digging the site.
LARS VON TRIER (Antichrist) 1 – ERIC KHOO (No Day Off) 0
I won’t think this through.
I must admit I was planning to vote for the less known film but the thing is,
after having watched it, I simply feel that Antichrist may lack some heart
and Lars may be a sick and cold auteur, but he is more close to what I feel cinema is all about
(although he’s made a lot better films than this one), so my vote goes to Antichrist.
I am very puzzled about this match.
(I feel like scaling oranges with rocks!)
As an experience I like more what I get from ten skies
but as a cinematic experience I’m with Eraserhead.
(so I’m leaning more towards Lynch, since we talk about the art of cinema
but I’m thinking of not voting at all)
I’m sorry I can’t support the cup by voting or promoting at this stage
but I have some family issues and I can’t seem to focus at all.
Count me in, however. I hope I will be able to be a lot more active
at the second stage (having director/s to manage or not)
Kim Ki-duk (Address Unknown) —0 vs Lina Wertmüller (Swept Away… by an Unusual Destiny in the Blue Sea of August) —1
Lina’s work is a new discovery for me and I just love her style.
Address Unknow didn’t really do the trick for me. I think the only
movie of Kim Ki-duk I really really like so far is Seom.
