- i would be interested to see good examples where these sort of effects have been used along side ‘normal’ footage.

or if they are destined for short/music video applications? any thoughts?

possessing is a programming language based around Java.
everything you need to know (to start with anyway) at
http://processing.org/

for weird sounds – I have been using a lot of granular synthesis recently. good for making short samples as well as more sound scape/ambience.. you could try this free demo
http://www.thirdmonk.com/MacPOD.html
(the demo plays a lovely burst of white noise every minuet, unless your are recording where it just goes silent for a second – if you are crafty you can get around it)

if you want to delve a little deeper you could try max/msp (there is a visual component called jitter also)

there is lots of help ‘out there’.. but it is expensive

a (very) similar open source program PureData http://puredata.info/
It has a complex UI, but there is lots of help available too.. there is this e-book also..

hope that helps.

wow, what an inspiring message, although i don’t think i can take credit for the costumes set design etc as he was a street performer that i came across walking around the city. It was more of a lucky encounter rather than a controlled/designed set with any form of pre-production.

I appreciate your comment about the length. It was in part due to the music, although I wanted, among other more abstract themes, to comment on the perception of the street performance.
I don’t know if you have this type of street performer in america, but they are a kind of human statue found in many ‘touristy’ city’s in europe, and they are only ‘allowed’ to move when someone gives them money. I find the endurance aspect of these performances interesting.

Thanks again, your feedback means alot.

Jane Arden (1927-82) over 2 years ago

I thought ‘anti-clock’ was brilliant. visually effective and, from my experience, a unique way of dealing with the themes covered. I will be honest, I get the gist, but I will have to watch it several more times before I can claim a complete understanding.

Is there anyway we can suggest or create a dedicated page for this and other Arden films?
