Silent Hill: Revelation 3D

This movie infuriates me. Not because it is terrible (it is), but because it could have been so good. This is actually an adaptation of SH3, which is a direct sequel to the 1st. They skipped 2, the crown gem in the series' crown. 2 really has nothing to do with 1st, except (kinda) taking place in the same location. SH 2, if I may be so bold, is a crowning achievement in digital story telling. It's a twisted psychological tale of a man receiving a letter from his deceased wife, beckoning him back to Silent Hill. Without going into spoilers, each character (especially the monsters) represented a part of the protagonists psyche. Pyramid Head isn't just a monster, he's an embodiment of all the character's frustrations, dark thoughts, and guilt. SH 2 took the basic frame work of the 1st to go off and tell an engaging, and mature story of guilt and shattered minds. This movie side stepped all of that to have a young, pretty people in it.

http://mubi.com/films/breakfast-at-tiffanys/wall Here, about four down from yours. My apologies I have yet to figure out how to isolate and link to a specific post. It wasn't much of a discussion because you were so right, and I hid in my corner.

Glad to see you dug Red State. We need to do that horror marathon when I get back from L.A. My place.

I looked on it's page and was nothing but people trashing it, I thought it needed a champion. We should get a legit list going, playing it by ear didn't seem to work last time.

So as not to derail the thread, I'm going to ask here: what other films by von Trier have you seen?

The Idiots, Dancer in the dark, Antichrist, and now Melancholia. I will admit not a huge amount of his work but I had such a negative reaction to the first three I didn't feel a desire to explore more of his filmography. I finally watched Melancholia because some many people I respected were saying good things.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to say, given that you said these films didn't make you feel any tension, hope or anything? (You had to feel a little something in *Antichrist*, no?)
