Watched the pristine 35mm print at Film Forum; will be going to see it again this week on the big screen. One of my all time favorite films...and one of my very favorite Kazan films. Remick and Clift are extraordinary together....and Jo Van Fleet should have been nominated for this film!

Definitely one of my favorite westerns ever...the only downside is the unfortunate ending that is rushed and ruined by Joanne Dru's horrible acting. Alas, I forgive Hawks for the ending because he was one of our true great Classical era directors and he made a wonderful picture with Red River. Clift's performance is amazing.
