a little self-satisfied. about maternal distress, i prefer Tsukamoto's Kotoko. about school shooting, i prefer Villeneuve's Polytechnique. too much insistent metaphors (red paint, red tomatoes, blooding hands, sense of guilt). kevin's evilness is almost farcical sometimes.Despite that, great Swinton's performance as usual.
terminal ills throws up. they haven't rosy cheeks. Gus, what happened to you?
maybe my favorite movie ever. Unspeakable.
beautiful, intense. maybe there are too much explanation.
from venice: awkward, unintentionally ridiculous, Twilight-esque
from venice film festival: Sion Sono's HIMIZU is a fuckin sensational movie, it breaks my heart
from Venice Film Festival: a beautiful dark movie about survival in a big city, loneliness, pain, addiction. Gorgeous Steve McQueen's style + Johann Sebastian Bach + great actors.
I'm desperately trying to find this movie too!
Conflicted feelings too. Horribly conceited, but fascinating? Awful, but gorgeous? The representation of hallucinations is common, but hypnotic. Flashbacks in particular are predictables, and yet, there's something that touch me... Gaspar NoƩ is an enigma: i've loved his Seul contre Tous, i've hated his pretentious Irreversible. I don't know.
Somewehere: in the middle of nowhere... Sofia Coppola has nothing to say and all the rest of it... she isn't able to make an HONEST movie.
From Venice : Cassavetes-sque, radical, extreme and touching film
