Chouga

Along with Garbo, Turgambayeva gives the best Karenina performance I've seen to date. Also whereas with 'Student' I felt at times Omirbaev was emphasizing too literally the economic modern disparities of post-USSR Kazakhstan, he did it well and balanced in 'Chouga'. The subtle motifs gender and class within the film proved once again how brilliant Omirbaev is.

I locked myself out of Tumblr so consider this a 'like' for yr Almodovr post, cus I can't do it for realzies ;_;. I cant actually fuck w him idt. Like I like his aesthetics er w/e n soap opera shit cus im a sucker for histrionics but praying4him sfm. N I realized I only rly like Volver/All About My Mother, and elements of the rest of his movies, cus it's only in those two where his women characters feel like actual characters/central in a real way beyond caricature/plot device idk + assault isn't handled so fucking disgustingly/flippantly in them for once.

MTE & most of his fans are queer white men from what I've noticed??? So they give me so much shit when I say idc fur him. Have you seen 'La mala educacion'? I'd be curious to hear yr opinions. // Also he's pretty racist too from what I was told like Almodovar gave Gael Garcia Bernal so much shit for having a non-Spanish accent which Pedro sees as "refined" and pretty much all POCs are background characters in his films. But because people aren't as accustomed to understanding racial dynamics in Spain it's brushed off.
