Anyway, Bergman Island was very worth watching. I knew nothing about him and had seen only one of his films, but I still loved it. The fact that it was in the bonus features section of the Blu-ray edition of Seventh Seal blows my mind. I was so happy when I found it on there.
Death to video streaming! I’m with David Lynch on this one. People out there who open up their web browsers and let a film stream as they check their emails and talk on the phone are not really watching the film.
I am also addicted to buying Criterions. I am proud of my collection though, even though it’s VERY small to the collections that some people on this forum have. =)
I agree that The Third Man will probably not see much of an increase in value, but I do feel grateful that I have the Blu-ray copy with both the digipack and the plastic replacement case. Go me! I wonder if the digipacks will ever become valuable collectors items…
The Seventh Seal
The Wages Of Fear
For All Mankind
The Third Man
Playtime
Complete Monterey Pop
Kagemushai
Pierrot Le Fou
In The Realm Of The Senses
Repulsion
Monsoon Wedding
Chunking Express
The Last Emperor
All movies I had never seen before. I have not watched all of them yet, but so far my favorites are Monsoon Wedding, The Seventh Seal, The Wages Of Fear and The Hit. Watching In The Realm Of The Senses was a very worthwhile experience as well.
Since nobody has mentioned Elvis Costello yet, I’ll do it.
My favorite albums of his from the 1980s are Imperial Bedroom and Blood & Chocolate. I would love to include Armed Forces (his best album, according to me), but it’s from 1979.
I know what you mean, Frank. I don’t know how many of you have watched The Wire, but Brother Mouzone, to me, seemed completely out of place. He was way too over the top, I found. As if he’d walked in from another series.

I was also wondering about that. I live in Canada… do you people think it would it be worth ordering from this company?

I don’t see why drugs would be a bad idea when you’re watching a movie. Anyone who tells you different is a bible-thumping fundamentalist commie.

Anyway, I also think this show’s great. I also was unimpressed at first. I think the documentary feel of it works so well.
