One the best modern dystopian future films. Would love to see more exploring nearer future scenarios like this one does, but they're few and far between. Liked it the first time, but its a movie I've gone back and watched every year or two and I keep appreciating it more every time. Beautifully shot, moody and atmospheric. The art direction has always stood out for me, the setting is meticulously planned.
I didn't realize til halfway through this it was a Herzog film, then it all made sense!
Very interesting dystopian flim, I didn't think it was an excellent flim so much as just full of interesting ideas.
Watching this was the first time I ever considered making films as something I might want to do with my life. Not sure why, but it did.
Beautiful shots framing the madness of the filming of Fitzcarraldo and Herzog in the jungle. My favourite doc I've seen.
One of the most brilliant self referential films ever.
Started me tracing my way down the American Zoetrope rabbit hole.
If you have any interest in flimmaking at all you should read "The Conversations". It's Michael Ondaatje interviewing Walter Murch about editing. It isn't looking at it technically, but loosely and as an art, its meaning, influences, processes, etc. It focus ranges broadly but has a ton of great insights into the creative process and production in general and is full of useful tidbits and is a smooth and interesting read.
One of the best movies I've seen this year. Great character study, crime/prison flick that explores power, politics and racism. I felt it ended quickly at 2 1/2 hours.
Great, interestingly shot, stylish gangster/western/bullet ballet.
Lost in La Mancha made me want to make films for the first time. Something about the beautiful catastrophic failure and what it could have been has haunted me. Excellent and innovative work.
I don't know why, but watching this movie was what started me wanting to make movies.
