that is a tad harsh.
Some thoughts on the film, my favourite of 2011: http://darkeyesocket.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/top-ten-films-of-year-2011-1-poetry.html
My #2 film of 2011: http://darkeyesocket.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/top-ten-films-of-year-2011-2.html
My #3 film of 2011: it's a perfect pop-crime movie; bubblegum chewed with bloodied teeth. http://darkeyesocket.blogspot.com/2012/03/top-ten-films-of-year-2011-3-drive.html
Happy 50th to JENNIFER JASON LEIGH. One of the very best actors working. A piece I wrote on 10 great JJL movie moments: http://filmexperience.blogspot.com/2010/07/top-ten-great-jennifer-jason-leigh.html
Takashi Miike putting the Cor! into courtroom drama!
Can. Not. Wait. What a cast! What an idea!
Yes please.
Terrifying, cold and brilliantly assured; and, thanks to Karloff as Orlok, full of wry charm, too. Utterly memorable filmmaking.
It resembled a too-long CKOne ad that no one asked for and felt like an extended segment of Paris je t'aime that no one wanted. Excruciating. Love as art directed hipness. Pretty rot.
Wonderful.
Savage Blair, savage hair.
Overly hip, artfully dejected types bore senseless with woes on lust/love. Painfully self-involved. Full of overly-showy dir. tics. Severely empty. My least liked type of filmmaking: affected, whiny, smug, ponderous.
Nice.
Brilliant.
My review of Stake Land: http://darkeyesocket.blogspot.com/2011/06/at-cinema-stake-land.html
An article I wrote on 3 of her performances: http://thefilmexperience.net/blog/2011/6/19/take-three-carla-gugino.html

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiCibwSV1ts It looks great.
x2 career-best performances by Jeremy Irons & fab Bujold. Cronenberg's direction is faultless and smooth as polished metal.
My most anticipated 2011 release.

Couldn't have clicked 'I want to watch this' any quicker.
"You're Topsy Kretts..." - "She's Topsy Kretts!" Best worst use of a ridiculous name in a movie done with a straight face.
A compulsive watch. Script is so tight and sharp I was immediately drawn in. As great as Laura (maybe better?) and a cut above Whirlpool.
Finally saw this after years of thinking to not bother. Glad I did. May be my fave of Tarantino's, along with a grab bag of bits from both Kill Bills. Smartass dialogue kept to minimum (feels like it comes from the character's mouths, not his); his best use of pop-soul hits (particularly a personal all-time fave, Bobby Womack's 'Across110th Street'); and editing was pin sharp & worked with film gloriously, instead of being too tricksy and convoluted (see Pulp Fiction). And the excellent Pam Grier & Robert Forster didn't win lead Oscars?? But Hunt & Nicholson did, for As Good As It Gets? Daft and wrong, right there.
One of the worst films ever made.
Baumbach does plausible awkwardness like no one else.
One of the best films of the '00s. Toni Collette is unmatchable in this. Brilliant.
