and The Beachcomber (1938)!
John Garfield's got plenty of both, and he's brilliant here.
The all-time great sassy broad.
Probably the most underrated actor in Hollywood history.
Not much of a film (and it chooses to stay impartial to Margaret's actual policies), but Streep is no less than extraordinary. It's not an impersonation, it's a masterful transformation from the inside out.
kind of adorable. is it possible that after all this years Catherine Deneuve is still the most beautiful woman in the movies?
holy shit! i cant believe this is on here! it's sooo ridiculous and wonderful
Strange Illusion and The Strange Woman should be added
I kinda like his music videos more then his movies, but Eternal sunshine and Block Party are both very moving.
Her dancing is divine, but no one is safe when she is trying to act.
bad, but not at all boring. it has a fascinating insanity.
i know i'm supposed to hate this movie, but i just can't. i have too much love for these ladies.
The Suspect (1944) should be added immediately. He is absolutely brilliant in it!
Not one of the better Tennessee Williams adaptations by any stretch (it's way too theatrical), but Geraldine Page's mannered, poetic, theatrical interpretation of Alma is a work of art.
Kinda terrible. Even for 1940 this film was hopelessly old-fashioned and dated. Vivien is of course very beautiful and she gives one of her typically poetic, passionate performances as a character who is far more innocent then Scarlett O'Hara, Lady Hamilton or Blanche DuBois, but this character is absurdly written. The screenwriters seem to have gotten innocence confused with total stupidity. Robert Taylor is ludicrously cast as an upper-class Brit, and so Vivien has to struggle even further to make the romance even seem conceivable. MGMs over-production doesn't help her either.
Not very good (magical realism rarely translates on the big screen), but Glenn Close is chilly and effective in the role of Férula. Winona (as much as I love her) was undoubtedly the biggest casting mistake.
i like how he's listed as composer. it's more fitting than say actor.
I wish Hollywood would give him better roles. knowing what he's capable of from "Jungle Fever" and "Pulp fiction," it just kills me to see him get cast in so much garbage
why isn't he listed for Clueless? he was unforgettable in that!
it's silly, but they're so hot it doesn't really matter
Lady Windermere's Fan should be added a.s.a.p.!
personally, i think he's the new Brando.
the Sirk version is soooo much better
I CANT BELIEVE I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS! I've seen "All I Desire," but that wasn't a high point for Stanwyck or Sirk.
The most beautiful physical comedian of all time.
she's a great artist, but she's also a terrible fascist.
hilarious, stylized high kitsch!
