About Me

I’m a lover of film, books, theatre, and music. I’m currently attending Whitman College and am earning my BA in both Film Studies and Sociology. Afterwards, I intend to go to graduate school to get a MFA in Film Production. I’ve worked on the set of a few larger scale independent films and have made a few short films myself. My first feature is currently in post-production.

So unbelievably mediocre. While it has its moments, I don't think I've ever seen a film as full of itself.

Hey Nate, I came here to talk to you about "Drive", but after seeing your profile I decided to follow. We seem to have some similar taste. Anyway, I see you said that you didn't think "Drive" lived up to it's opening sequence, and I kind of agree. I'm feeling very alone in my opinion of the film, so I'm wondering what you thought of the rest of the film. For me it was kind of like the film kept going high and low with my interest. A scene would be great, then it would become less interesting for a while, then another great set-piece, then back to less interesting. Anyway, some extra thoughts on the film would be appreciated. Cheers... ~Jye

Hey Jye, I think I'm in a similar boat, and on reflection I really think that it is really the screenplay that fails in Drive. The structure of the screenplay is just horrible and often is the cause of most of the weaker moments of the film. I think its the parts with great direction and effective cinematography and editing that shine and stand out far more than many of the dull dialogue sequence and the poorly structured story.

The forum is playing Aurora and a doc on Jane Goodall. And two other films during the afternoon but I forget what. Grand Illusion doesn't have their calendar up yet. I won't be in town next weekend, or I'd see something with you.

I will be out of town! The other showing I have school. This kind of destroys me, but the fact that I'm at VIFF then sort of compensates. Goooooo
