I watched one of favorite non-local films last year, Hunting Scenes from Bavaria, and it instantly hit me: it has parallelisms to Frankenstein especially a parallelism between Abraham and the monster being victims of society's close minded visions of the world. I wonder what you think about it.

Hey Adrian! Glad you liked the film. It seems like a simple, straightforward film, with a seemingly simple theme. But I like how it doesn't absolve the spectator, at least in my case. To my surprise and shame, I simultaneously identified with the narrow-minded village and the Frankenstein they help create. None of us is immune from making careless jabs at other people sometimes. (I think I committed just that in my last review.) Narrow-mindedness happens to have exponents, unfortunately, everywhere where there is a discussion of identity (sex, race, creed, etc.). The fact is, today's most enlightened champions may be tomorrow's bigots. The thing is how deeply conditioned and naturalized narrow-mindedness can be, it may even be taught by our own elders, that nothing seems wrong with it. This film counsels a careful understanding of humanity, a process that remains open-ended and in a flux, not just a careful weighing of gesture and word at all times, lest we create monsters more frightening than we can imagine.
