So I’m seated here in front of my computer, trying to search for a unique box set for movies made by one of the greatest directors of all time (ANGELOPOULOS) and it is seemingly impossible. Either they are region 2 encoded dvd’s or region 0 but not with english subtitles on almost the entire collection. This made me think of the lack of distribution that certain, potential American film distribution companies have on their collection. I’m sure that companies like Criterion or Kino try hard to bring the best, but if you spent time for bringing movies like Benjamin Button to the special collection, I would suggest to take that precious time and give it to someone else: let say a box set for Andrei Tarkovsky or at least one for Nuri Bilge Ceylan, etc.; to try and support better the true side of film.
On the other side, I guess is not easy. But i know there is people out there who feel the same way as I do, so please try a little harder, for the sake of the Cinemaphile :-| :). You guys the companies have the money, the monopoly… what else do you need?
What is Kubrick's Most Under-Appreciated Film? over 3 years ago
Bary Lyndon is visually good and interesting. Eyes wide shut was a slip, a foul in Kubrick’s canon.
